Exploring the Ancient Hunting Traditions of the Pamirs
This article explores the hunting culture among the mountain people - Tajiks and provides a brief analysis of the existing literature on hunting, written by both local and international scholars, researchers, and travelers who have passed through this region at different times. The work sheds light on the cultural significance of traditional hunting for the Marco Polo sheep and wild goats among the indigenous peoples of the high mountain regions of the Tajik Pamirs. It also offers instructive examples of the responsible and sustainable use of wild fauna, emphasizing its transmission to future generations. In doing so, this work raises important issues related to the ethics of hunting, as well as ecology and environmental protection, which are particularly relevant in today's world.
