Course Assessment Mapping for GenAI
With the aim of enhancing course assessment practices at the University of Central Asia (UCA), the Centre for Teaching, Learning and Technology (CTLT) conducted a workshop, "Course Assessment Mapping for GenAI," for university academic staff from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
Held in June 2025, the workshop used a practical, peer-supported approach to help instructors strengthen the balance, integrity, and relevance of their course assessments, with a special focus on the impact of AI. The workshop was designed to support faculty in adapting their assessments to the evolving educational context, ensuring that AI is integrated ethically and effectively.
The two-day workshop engaged participants in mapping course assessments against learning outcomes, identifying gaps or overload, refining tasks for deeper learning, and redesigning assessments to reduce inappropriate AI use while ethically integrating AI tools. Participants also developed concrete tools and actionable plans to apply immediately in their own courses.
Reflecting on the workshop, participants noted that it offered practical strategies and insights for adapting assessments, helping them maintain academic integrity while leveraging AI effectively.
The workshop was co-facilitated by Prof. Kevin Pitts (Seneca College, Canada) and the UCA CTLT team.
