Lucy Palmer is an award-winning journalist, author, and radio documentary-maker with more than three decades of international experience, including work for The Guardian, the BBC, ABC Australia, Condé Nast Traveller, and The Conversation. As Senior Lecturer in Communications & Media at the University of Central Asia, she is a leading practitioner-scholar whose teaching integrates creative nonfiction, podcasting, and industry-standard media practice.

Lucy has pioneered podcasting as a practice-led research method at UCA, developing Speaking Volumes, an initiative that translates academic research into compelling public stories. A sought-after ghostwriter and memoirist, Lucy has written several commissioned books and, as an author in her own right, is represented by Allen and Unwin (Sydney).

She mentors students to develop high-impact communication skills, and has built international pathways for student development through partnerships with institutions such as Deutsche Welle.  Her career has been defined by a commitment to powerful storytelling, investigative depth, and the translation of complex social issues into compelling public narratives.
