CTLT Conducts Practical Workshop
The Center for Teaching, Learning and Technology (CTLT) Director, Dr Mariia Guzikova, led a hands-on workshop for the Technical School of Innovation of AUCA instructors on using threshold concepts to help students grasp difficult topics more quickly and confidently.
Hosted on the TSI campus, the session brought together faculty across disciplines—from the sciences and economics to humanities and professional studies—to explore practical ways of identifying “stuck points” in their courses and turning them into purposeful learning moments. Threshold concepts—core ideas that are transformative yet troublesome for learners—served as the workshop’s central framework.
“The goal is not to simplify the content, but to scaffold the crossing of the liminality —so students emerge with a new, more powerful way of thinking in the discipline.” said Dr Guzikova.
