Manual: Soil Study and Evaluation Through Experiments

The manual has been developed and released by the Mountain Societies Research Institute (MSRI) of the UCA’s Graduate School of Development as a part of the Paleoclimate, Environmental Change and Social Interaction in Central Asia (PALESCA) project, under the support of the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) and the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF). This manual was developed in Kyrgyz and Russian for grades 5-11 of secondary schools and approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic.

There are five thematic parts and instructions for conducting 16 experiments, using affordable materials, as well as several practical tasks for schoolchildren. The manual’s educational material will help to significantly expand the knowledge of students in geography, chemistry, biology and physics. They were preliminarily tested in practice jointly with teachers and students of pilot schools of Naryn city, At-Bashy and Naryn rayons, who had been involved in the PALESCA project’s activity on citizen science development for the last two years.
