With over 15 years of tenure at SPCE, Rakhat Akylova possesses extensive experience in the field of English language teaching (ELT). This includes instructing GE, EAP, and ESP courses at UCA's School of Professional and Continuing Education (SPCE) in Naryn.
Throughout this period, she has diligently pursued professional development in ELT, benefiting from UCA SPCE-organized courses that have broadened her knowledge and resulted in the acquisition of several certificates. Notable certifications include Teaching English for Academic Purposes from the University of Ottawa, Canada; Teaching English for Specific Purposes from Trinity College, London; Further Certificate on Teaching Business English (FCTBE) from the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI); Teaching Knowledge Test and CELTA courses. These certifications have equipped her with a profound understanding of the intricacies of her profession.
Additionally, as a Senior Instructor, ESP Coordinator, and Cambridge Assessment Speaking Examiner for exams such as PET, FCE, CAE, BE Preliminary, BE Vantage, and BE Higher, she actively participated in curriculum development for specific English programs at SPCE. She played a vital role in monitoring and suggesting minor modifications, compiling methodological guides, conducting ELT sessions, and organizing training sessions for local and rural English language teachers.
Furthermore, she has gained invaluable experience by successfully coordinating a World Bank project focused on Youth Climate Action and now works as a Manager of Academic Affairs at SPCE Naryn, Kyrgyzstan.
