Preserving the Musical Heritage of Tajikistan: Methods and Approaches

Abstract

This article is devoted to issues of preservation of the musical heritage of the Tajik people, specifically the archival materials of the A. Donish Institute of History, Archeology and Ethnography, NAST. These archival materials have important historical, scientific, social, and cultural significance and include records of folk and modern musical art of Tajiks, photographs, individual field diaries, and notebooks of participants in art history expeditions, which require further study. One task of priority today is the creation of an electronic catalog of all available records of the musical archive of the Institute, which will enable not only digitization and storage but also access to the musical heritage of the Tajiks.
