Lorenz is an M.A. student in social and cultural anthropology at the University of Vienna, and will be visiting the UCA for a period of three months to pursue field research for his master’s thesis on community-based tourism in Kyrgyzstan. Previously he has focused his studies on areas of political participation and climate change. Right now, his research interests have shifted to a focus on development, post-soviet countries and impacts of tourism. For his study, Lorenz is conducting interviews with external organizations developing tourism, tour-companies and tourism providers themselves, in order to uncover different evaluations of the impacts of CBT on local communities and their livelihoods. Lorenz is passionate about mountains and outdoor activities.
